On May 13, Xavier Avery was called up from Norfolk (Triple-A) to the major leagues for the first time in his career. He made his major league debut that night against the Tampa Bay Rays and became the 73rd former Shorebirds player to reach the major leagues.

The Baltimore Orioles Player Development Department announced on Monday that Delmarva Shorebirds right-handed pitcher Dylan Bundy has been named the Orioles Minor League Pitcher of the Month for April. The 19-year old tossed 17 scoreless innings during the month of April.
